The incident took place around 8 a.m., on Thursday, May 30, when Bridgeport Police received a 911 report of a possible abduction of a 9-year-old girl, said Terron Jones, spokesman for the Bridgeport Police Department.

According to the victim, as she waited for her school bus at the corner of Logan Street and Stratford Avenue, she was approached by a tall black male. He grabbed her by her wrist, and attempted to pull her to the back of the Pentecostal Church of Prayer and Deliverance at 1562 Stratford Ave., Jones said.

The suspect was unable to pull her away, so picked her up by the waist and carried her to the back of the church. In an empty stairwell, he attempted to lift up her dress and touch her.

The victim was able to get away by stepping on his foot and yelling, he added.

As the suspect walked away, he covered his head with a black hooded sweatshirt that he was wearing.

He is described as being 5-foot-10 to 6-foot-1, skinny, and was wearing a black hooded sweatshirt, sneakers with red and white soles, and had dreadlocks with blondish tips that reached to his mid-waist.

Anyone with information is asked to contact the Bridgeport Police Department’s Detective Bureau at 203-576-TIPS (8477).
